Relax in the elegant surroundings of this historic Regency home.
Unwind in the rose filled garden or the classical conservatory with its unusual pebble floor.
Coast House is a classic Regency style house built in about 1835. History has it that the Duke of Wellington commissioned the house for one of his military commanders whilst he was in residence at Walmer Castle as Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports .
From 1908 to 1912 the house was the home of Baron Joseph Lister, the pioneer of
antiseptic medicine. A blue plaque at the gate commemorates his life here.
Today, Coast House is an eclectic and colourful family home that provides a welcome retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. We offer high quality accommodation for the discerning guest. The pretty front garden makes the perfect place to relax in summer and the beach can be accessed directly from the garden across the road.
We are proud to be one of Alastair Sawday's 'Special Places to Stay'.
